Hey everyone!
Just to give you all a quick update, we'll be playing a show on the 29th of January, at the Bamboo Cafe. There will be some older Hip in the setlist for the night, as well as some songs from our original project! Click on our facebook link for more info!
Speaking of original music, after 2 months and many, many band discussions and votes, we finally settled on a name: Coloured Animal. The reason for the name? We were discussing band names at the annual Christmas party, and it was mentioned there, I believe as part of a conversation involving clever band names, such as Dallas Greene's solo project (City and Colour). Anyhow, we all like it, and as such it's staying!
As far as the songs themselves go, it's been amazing! We have 5 songs that are written as of right now, and we are working on 2 more ideas, with several more waiting to be looked at. The output of this collaboration has been amazing, in terms of musical ideas, and open-mindedness to try different things. It will take some time for the 5 of us to find what our "sound" will be, but for now, it's lots of fun finding out!
Also, cool news: We'll be playing at the Olympics!! We have 2 shows locked in. One will be a 45 minute set with Coloured animal, and the other will be a HEADLINING set with Hipeponymous! We're waiting for more details to come down the pipe (ie: location and exact show dates/times) before we put anything on the website, but keep you eyes peeled and check back for more info!
